Culturally-Modified Trauma Informed Treatment for Latino Youth and Families

This workshop will discuss how community collaboration and partnerships are created, nurtured and embedded in substance abuse prevention and gang prevention programs in the San Gabriel Valley by utilizing existing resources to build community interdependence. The presenters will discuss ways that online social media and culturally-relevant approaches are used to attract youth participation. Guided by the strategic planning framework, the presenters will explain the process in developing diverse partnerships to implement large-scale projects such as the Got Skills youth talent show and the San Gabriel Valley Youth Summit to engage youth in lifelong learning in youth advocacy/leadership, successful transitions, health, visual and performing arts.
