Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment Services for the Latino Community

The California Office of Problem Gambling (OPG) has established prevention and treatment for problem gamblers and their families specific to the Latino Community.

This presentation will provide information related to problem gambling prevention resources, including OPG’s public awareness media campaign and brochures for responsible gambling. In addition, training and technical assistance is available to community groups, law enforcement agencies, health care professionals, and faith-based groups regarding signs and symptoms of problem gambling. UCLA Gambling Studies Program research will be highlighted as well as cultural competency including resources for treating those in the Latino community. Treatment services are available for problem gamblers and those individuals who are adversely affected by the gamblers behavior. Telephone counseling and outpatient services are available in Spanish as well as English and other languages.
The end of the presentation will provide interactive discussion featuring questions and answers and ideas for outreach into the Latino community.
