Addressing the Mental Health Concerns of Latino University Students

Mental health issues often occur in students who face common triggers: break-ups, home obligations, financial problems, pressure to make good grades while the bills pile up. These are severe and compelling reasons commonly given by Latino students who drop out of their university studies. This two-hour workshop session will provide an overview of research issues concerning the mental and physical health of a sample of Latino university students from CSU Dominguez Hills. The purpose of this workshop is to address specific causes that lead to dropping out of school as well as solutions or strategies to improve school retention.
