Treating Trauma Within a Cultural/Social Latino Context Via Learned Confidence Therapy

The objective of the workshop is to examine individualIndividual, family, and group therapy of clients who have experienced trauma, interpersonal violence, from sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. Via the relabeling of the abuser and the placement of responsibility on the perpetrator with consequences, the outcome of treatment is the transformation of the client from victim to survivor. The Learned Confidence therapy model teaches the client to accept the anger/rage that he/she has denied or placed on themselves which has maintained his/her victim role; hindering the victim from being able to be in control of one’s life, maintaining a level of anxiety and self-doubt.
