Miguel Cruz, M.S., PhD.

Mr. Miguel Cruz is the Project Coordinator of Caribbean Basin and Hispanic Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC), unit of the Institute of Research, Education and Services of Addiction at the Universidad Central del Caribe and a doctoral student in Public Health at Walden University. Since 1999, he became involved in different committees and initiatives specializing in assessing service providers’ workforce capacity building needs to serve Hispanic/Latino populations in need of substance abuse services. He has served as field reviewer of various Targeted Capacity Expansion programs by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration. His interest is around research and evaluation of services for Hispanic/Latino populations, workforce development and web-based technology, epidemiology of substance abuse, suicide, and mental health.

El Sr Miguel Cruz es actualmente el coordinador del proyecto Caribbean Basin and Hispanic ATTC, un proyecto auspiciado con fondos federales otorgados por SAMHSA a través de CSAT, lo que constituye una unidad del Instituto de Investigación, Educación y Servicios en Adicción de la Universidad Central del Caribe ATTC y actualmente es estudiante doctoral en Salud Publica con especialidad en epidemiologia de Walden University. Desde el 1999 comenzó a relacionarse con varios proyectos de servicio y educativos en el campo del trastorno de uso de drogas especialmente relacionados con el desarrollo de la fuerza laboral para proveedores que proveen servicios a personas con trastorno de uso de sustancias y proyectos comunitarios de servicio y de alcance para mujeres con esta enfermedad. Ha trabajado como revisor de campo para proyectos y programas relacionados con los Targeted Capacity Expansions auspiciados por el Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration y su interés se enfoca en investigación y evaluación de servicios para poblaciones Hispanas/Latinas, la fuerza laboral, tecnología, epidemiología del uso de sustancia y trastornos concurrentes como enfermedades de salud mental y suicidios.
